Who?
I am Janne Väätämöinen, a guitarist/musician, music producer and music pedagogue, AmO. I have been playing guitar for almost 40 years and teaching for over 25 years.
I practice a pedagogy that builds a learning path based on the student's strengths and musical interests. As a teacher, I am student-oriented, warm, friendly, fun and humorous, and I always provide different perspectives and tools for studying the instrument. Hundreds of students have taken my classes.
I have been through a lot and have played all kinds of music in various music productions, bands and jams. I am best known for the prog metal band Fireproven and as the music producer for Juffi, who won The Voice Of Finland 2020.
For the past twenty years, I have been researching guitar teaching and, as a result, developing the Ladders™ teaching method.

Ladders™ Guitar Method

The importance of small steps
Do you want to learn how to play accompaniments, melodies, or improvised solos to any chord progression/song — regardless of genre?
Learn to navigate between different chords completely seamlessly — elegantly, but knowing what you're doing — while still maintaining a soulful and relaxed playing style?
Are there areas in your guitar playing, such as fretboard perception and control, that you need guidance on?
Does the guitar technique need polishing?
Or do you just want to start a new and wonderful hobby?
Ladders™ is the solution and today's guitar teaching method, where you learn a strong foundation in a logical, gradual and universal way — in small steps. Everything new you learn always builds on what you learned before.
Years of development behind it
I first developed the method for myself, but I'm happy to see that others also find it incredibly helpful in practicing guitar and understanding the instrument.
You will learn to know your instrument thoroughly through different tools and visuals, as well as different objective perspectives — you can always look at the subject you are learning through different lenses.
The practice materials are clear and comprehensively thought out. In addition to traditional notation methods, the teaching uses tone diagrams and colors.
Because, according to my long, almost 40 years of playing experience, playing the guitar is an elite sport involving micro muscles, you will also receive clear weekly exercises and body maintenance programs.
The method is also aimed at students of all ages and those with concentration or learning difficulties such as ADHD, etc.
Stairs to the wonderful world of music
Learning to play a musical instrument is not just a mechanical memorization, but a gateway to a world of hearing, understanding, and experiencing music. When you begin to understand the music you play, you no longer repeat it — you live it.
I promise to open a gateway to this world and every step you take upwards will be closer to the destination of your journey, which is understanding and mastering the nature of the instrument, the fretboard, and the music you play!
Great customer reviews from just a few months prove that the method works. Read a few below or more here!

Customer reviews
Janne is a guitar teacher who I can highly recommend as a guitarist with about 10 different teachers.
I have been taking Janne's lessons for about 3 months and I feel that my knowledge of the guitar and how I look at it has changed significantly.
Valtteri
The first thing to mention is the relaxed feeling during the lessons. From the very first lesson, Janne made the fretboard open up to new eyes. Things progress clearly and player-oriented.
The teaching material is professional, clear and inspiring. An absolutely excellent teacher.
